MULTI DAY IMAGE QUEST PHOTO TOURS
My mission is simple – I love to share my passion for nature photography with everyone around me in a simple, easy to understand manner. I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years and am just as excited about nature photography today as I was 13 years ago when I first went to Yellowstone NP.
I have been told by others that I am very easy to get along with and care about my customers needs. I also respect that it is very important to meet people where they are at in their photographic / artistic journey. This means I can easily work with people that are starting out or with people that want to learn advanced techniques that require learning "in layers".
I have lived in Sidney, BC Canada (on Vancouver Island) for over 16 years and have an excellent knowledge for my “local” area. I am also very well connected to the other parts of BC for both wildlife and nature.
I lead and co-lead photo tours and workshops in Port Renfrew, Tofino, Colorado (fall colours), and the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary (Provincial Park in Northern BC home to 50-60 Grizzly bears) with my long time friend Shane McDermott. We are planning Italy for 2020 too.
Can't wait to meet you soon.
Dave provided us great service by clearly understanding our requirements, by providing quality images and by delivering a finished product in a timely way. Dave scheduled the helicopter around the weather windows to take the best possible photographs for a facility our size. He even handily mounted several large printed images throughout our office too. I would recommend Dave Hutchison to anyone considering his photography.

The San Juan Mountains and Sneffles Wilderness are legendary for fall color photography. We will be situated in Rigway, Co which is tremendous hub that allows us so many options for both sunrise, sunset, midday and starlight shooting. Some of our locations will include County roads 5.7.9, Owl Creek Pass, Last Dollar Road, Chimney Rock and many less known locations in the Mount Sneffles Wilderness area. Although we will be visiting many beautiful locations, creative and artistic growth will be the priority and focus of this workshop. Photographers must be willing to make the most of the location and conditions present, willing to embrace less than ideal conditions as a opportunity for creative growth.
For a detailed itinerary please go to the Colorado Fall Colors page.

In general, demand for the Khutzeymateen is very high. Only approx. 200 people visit the Khutzeymateen Estuary each spring. For many, this is a trip of a lifetime.
I recommend reading the Khutz Photo Tour page for the details.
The Khutzeymateen Valley is Canada’s only grizzly bear sanctuary and the home of one of British Columbia’s most important coastal populations of grizzly bears. Located on the northwest coast of BC, the Khutzeymateen is a stunning land of dense Sitka spruce rainforest, fjords and high, rugged mountains. The Khutzeymateen River watershed plus the neighbouring drainages of Larch and Cedar Creek, make up the 44,000 hectares of the sanctuary.
It is thought that a minimum of 60 grizzlies call the pristine wilderness of the Khutzeymateen home, which is perhaps the largest known concentration of grizzly bears on the entire BC coast. The grizzlies share the watershed with black bears, wolves, wolverines, mountain goats, mink, otters, martens, porcupines and beavers. Marine mammals such as seals, otters, and whales frequent the area and over 100 species of birds are also found in the valley.
For detailed itinerary please go directly to the Khutz Photo Tour page.
