Dave provided us great service by clearly understanding our requirements, by providing quality images and by delivering a finished product in a timely way. Dave scheduled the helicopter around the weather windows to take the best possible photographs for a facility our size. He even handily mounted several large printed images throughout our office too. I would recommend Dave Hutchison to anyone considering his photography.

My aim is simple – awaken your inner creativity through peace, calm, and clarity. In other words, I love to share my passion for nature photography with everyone around me in a simple, easy to understand manner. I have been a professional photographer for 10 years and am just as excited about nature photography today as I was 12 years ago when I first went to Yellowstone NP.I have been told by others that I am very easy to get along with and care about my customers needs.
I also respect that it is very important to meet people where they are at in their photographic / artistic journey. This means I can easily work with people that are starting out or with people that want to learn advanced techniques that require learning "in layers".
I have lived in Sidney, BC Canada (on Vancouver Island) for over 15 years and have an excellent knowledge for my “local” area. I am also very well connected to the other parts of BC for both wildlife and nature.
I was born in Toronto in 1968 and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario until 1993. I have been a resident of BC since 1993 and has made Sidney on Vancouver Island his home since 2002. I am also a single father to a beautiful 11 year girl, Faye. In my earlier youth, I raced road bikes from about age 14 til my early 30's. I have always been active and live a healthy lifestyle. When I am not photographing or engulfed in the business of photography my day includes hiking (backpacking), yoga, and meditating (or just call it spending quiet time with myself).
I consider myself fortunate to have ventured into places that many others don’t get to visit. The Great Bear Rainforest in the North Central Coast of BC has called him back several times with the lure of the elusive Spirit Bear. Shots from these trips have been published in Outdoor Photography Canada, Westworld (BCAA), Canadian Wildlife, Canadian Geographic, and BC Magazine. I also travel several times a year to the US where I allow myself to be out of my comfort zone and find different landscapes and wildlife that I would not normally see in Western Canada.
I also strongly believe in the promotion of nature conservation and the idea of bringing nature home, which gives people access to beautiful parts of the world that they may not ever see.
Accepted Images into the 2018 PPOC National Image Salon Competition
Most recently, I had two images (of four) accepted into the PPOC National Images Salon (competition). I also received my second PPOC Accreditation in Scenic / Pictoral Photography from PPOC in February 2018.
I also teach private half and full day workshops in the Victoria area that are customized for each individual photographer. Send me an email or call if you would like to discuss further.
